2017 and 2018

I was part of the organizing team of the AFCHIX TechWomen Summit that happened along side Africa Internet Summit 2017 and 2018 in Kenya and Senegal respectively

During the Africa Internet Summit (AIS) https://www.internetsummit.africa/en/, AFCHIX hosts a TechWomen Summit and has so far convened 2 events (Nairobi, Kenya in 2017 and Dakar, Senegal in 2018) with an average of 120 attendees. In partnership with the Internet Society Women Special Interest Group and the Internet Society Uganda Chapter, AFCHIX is planning the 2019 AFCHIX TechWomen Summit, which will be a one day event featuring diverse speakers and participants. Previous topics have included: the importance of female role models, community networks and the future for African women, career paths for young women, technology trends (blockchain, Internet of Things (IoT), big data, machine learning), leadership, innovation and entrepreneurship, cutting through the gender divide, etc.

Objectives of the Summit

The AFCHIX Tech-Women Summit is planned alongside the Africa Internet Summit (AIS) 2019 in Kampala, Uganda. The Objectives of the TechWomen Summit are to:

Provide a platform for African Women in Technology to learn from each other through the various summit sessions

Provide opportunities for networking for African Women in Technology

Strengthen the AFCHIX Network through increased visibility of AFCHIX’s work and programs

Target Participants

The forum aims to attract over 200 participants from different sectors including: Government bodies – Ministry of ICT, National Information Technology Authority – Uganda (NITA-U), Uganda Communications Commission, Law Enforcement Agencies, Academia, Internet Service Providers, Media, Civil Society, Technology, Policy and Entrepreneurship, among others.
